About China Palace Restaurant

Located at 2905 Washtenaw Ave, Ypsilanti, MI 48197, China Palace Restaurant operates as a chinese restaurant serving Ypsilanti in Michigan. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as restaurant, so it may cover more than the name suggests.
Chinese restaurants in the United States range from steam-table lunch counters to white-tablecloth Cantonese seafood halls, and most fall somewhere in between: a laminated menu, a lunch special board, and combo plates priced a few dollars below the dinner menu. Ordering by number off the menu is normal and speeds things up, especially at takeout counters. Family-style ordering, where a table shares several dishes with rice rather than each person getting an individual entree, is standard at sit-down spots and usually cheaper per person. Many neighborhood restaurants are cash-preferred or charge a small card fee, so it is worth asking or checking the door before you order. Delivery apps cover most areas, but calling the restaurant directly is often faster and avoids the markup.
The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. Typical hours are 11 am–9 pm. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. You can reach China Palace Restaurant at (734) 829-0999; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. Be careful of their deceptive marketing. This place charged me $40 for 1 adult + 1 seven year old kid at Friday lunch time hotpot buffet. The poster says: $16.99 for adult and half price for kid at 6+, my husband had a separate order of a white rice and explicitly told them he is not eating the hotpot. When I asked the cashier person what’s the pricing when I pay: she told me $14.99 for kids. I was speechless. Another person followed me to the door with a pen, saying I didn’t give her a tip and I gave her another $6 after overpaying for the food.

I never post reviews, and am usually the “get over it/not worth my time ruminating on it person”, haha, but I can’t help myself with this one. My sister and I decided to eat here on a whim… we came for the buffet and probably ate a 4th of our plates before asking for our bill and leaving. I wish I wasn’t a chicken and afraid of confrontation, because it is ridiculous that I paid $50 for 2 not-eaten plates of food and a tip without saying a word 😅. The food was absolutely disgusting, everything was lukewarm or straight up cold. I thought the crab Rangoons would be the one saving grace… nope, all you can could taste was greasy oil. The onion rings were hard as a rock. Lo mein cold and chewy. Cooked green beans and broccoli… cold. There were 2 flies circulating our table the entire time. We both sat there wondering if we were in the twilight zone because it was actually pretty busy… we were looking around like “omg, is this real life, how are people sitting here enjoying this? 😅”. The staff were nice, so I guess that’s a positive… but I’d steer clear of this place. We definitely won’t be back! If you need a good recommendation for Chinese food in Ypsilanti, we’ve ordered from HK Chin

We were in town to visit our son getting Therapy and Rehabilitation in a near by facility. We were also visiting family in the area, and celebrating a birthday of a family member. My sister/cousin, (cousin that was raised like a sister), and our Uncle suggested this place because they have visited before. I must admit, the buffet and selection was LARGE! They have about 15-20 hot tables full of Asian inspired meats, veggies, salad options, sushi, seafood and desserts. The price was per person was reasonable as well. The food was really good. They were very accommodating with us bringing in our own cake and balloons, and they were very pleasant with service our table and needs!

The buffet was absolutely DISGUSTING. We got there and looked at the buffet all of it looked really gross and we got our plates the food was really cold, The people next to us said they had bugs in their food. Therefore, I went up to speak with the manager and tell her that the food was cold and none of us ate it except for a bite or two, it took her about 30 minutes to get back to our table. Meanwhile, while she was gone, two of the four boys threw up actually at the table. And then when we left the other two threw up outside at the restaurant and we had to stop at a gas station because he was continuing to throw up.. they only discounted four dollars off of our check. They gave us a lunch special, even though it was 9 PM and when I went up to the register to try and fight the ticket, she argued with me and told me there was nothing else she could do mind you none of our food was eaten and at this point two of the four people had thrown up at OUR TABLE. The manager also proceeded to come over to our table and look how much food we consumed and actually check if there was puke, Which there was. I will be calling health department Monday morning because I believe all four of the bo

We came in at 11 when they opened, and the food tasted old. It seemed like they reused food from the previous day and just recooked it. You can tell they haven't changed their oil for food consumption in a while. We also got dim sum, but it tasted like it came out of a frozen bag—definitely not good at all. The server was very rude when bringing us our food, and they served lukewarm water with no ice. This place used to be good, but now it’s very terrible.
